While it's more common to use Diatomaceous Earth as a flea prevention, many people have added small amounts of Diatomaceous Earth to their pet's diet. Pet owners who have given their pets  Diatomaceous Earth have found their pet has an improved coat, appetite, metabolism, and digestion.

Feeding Diatomaceous Earth to your cat

The type of food you are giving your cat will also affect the way to give it to them.

Wet Food: Remove the food from the can and add it to the dish. Then add the appropriate dose of Diatomaceous Earth and mix in.
Dry Food: Cats may be sceptical of their dry cat food if it has a white powder on it, that's why we  suggest this method for adding Diatomaceous Earth to your cat's food.

Step 1: Take note of the number of servings in the bag of cat food.
Step 2: Multiply the appropriate  Diatomaceous Earth dosage by the number of servings. Add that amount of DE to the bag of cat food and shake the bag to distribute it evenly. The Diamaceous Earth will absorb the scent of the cat food and be almost indistinguishable from it allowing your cat to enjoy their food.

Alternatively you can try this approach:

Step 1: Mix the dosage of Diatomaceous Earth with a quarter cup of water.
Step 2: Pour the mixture over your cat's dry food coating most of it.

Be sure not to get the product in the animal's eyes or ears. Re-apply if the animal gets wet or when the powder is no longer present.

Step 2: Multiply the appropriate Diatomaceous Earth dosage by the number of servings. Add that amount of Diatomaceous Earth to the bag of dog food and shake the bag to distribute it evenly. The Diatomaceous Earth will absorb the scent of the dog food and be almost indistinguishable from it allowing your dog to enjoy their food.

Method 2:

Step 1: Mix the amount of Diatomaceous Earth with a quarter cup of water.
Step 2: Pour the mixture over your dog's dry food coating most of it.
As you feed your dog Diatomaceous Earth you can rest easy knowing that you are helping promote their health and happiness.

Be sure not to get the product in the animal's eyes or ears. Re-apply if the animal gets wet or when the powder is no longer present.

It is recommended you hold off on adding Diatomaceous Earth to their diet until they move to solid food.
