Pet Remedy Pet Calming Spray 200 ml
Pet Remedy Pet Calming Spray - A natural way of tackling anxiety and stress in all pets and animals. Several years of research and trials have resulted in a unique formula using low concentration Valerian essential oil, blended with Vetiver, Sweet Basil, and Sage
Pet Remedy works alongside the brain’s natural messengers called neuro-transmitters, which work by telling the nerve receiving the message to either calm down or get ‘fired up’. In times of stress or anxiety the nerves get over stimulated, which leads on to the many symptoms we see in our pets. The special Pet Remedy blend of essentials oils (low dosage valerian essential oil with vetiver, sweet basil and sage) works alongside these natural relaxation pathways to help calm the nerves of anxious or stressed pets.
Works for all pets in the household including dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, rodents and birds. Starts to work immediately and helps to calm the pet without sedating.
Stress in pets can be triggered by many things such as: separation, being alone at home, fireworks and other loud noises, travelling, a new pet in the home, changes in the home or a change in routine, visiting the vets or a loss of a companion.
Use sparingly as required (usually every 1 or 2 hours is enough). Spray directly on bandana, bedding, carpet, soft furnishings, in car, stable, or horsebox. Do not spray near pets mouth nose and eyes. When walking an anxious or agressive dog, simply spray on trouser leg and bring to heel when you anticipate a problem. You can even spray on your tunic if handling an anxious pet. Spray on towel and cover pet carrier for 5-10 minutes before removing distressed cat, dog, rabbit or other animal.
Pet Remedy is:
- Clinically proven
- Helps stressed pet become more attentive and receptive
- Water based, PH neutral formulation so safe on skin and coat of pet
- Developed and made in England
Pet Remedy Calming Spray is availble in a generous 200ml bottle with easy to use with trigger spray.
For best results use in conjunction with a Pet Remedy Plug-In Diffuser .
Travel tips
- Simply spray a little Pet Remedy on bedding or a blanket or on a bandana prior to a journey
- As Pet Remedy Calming Spray is water based and PH neutral, you can even spray a little on your fingers and rub around muzzle and top of chest of dog
- Pet Remedy starts to help almost instantly because of the way it works (mimics the natural calming message from the brain called GABA), so you only need to use the spray just before setting off in the car
- Pet Remedy lasts around 4 hours but this can depends on the dog – for some 2 hours for others it can last for 8 hours
- For long haul travel, Pet Remedy can be sprayed in the crate prior to departure and this really makes all the difference for the travelling pet!
Training tip from a National Dog Trainer: When walking an anxious or agressive dog, simply spray on trouser leg and bring to heel.
INGREDIENTS
Valerian Essential Oil - Valeriana officinalis Valerian is a perennial herb with short rhizomes, aromatic feathery leaves and clusters of small pink or white flowers that bloom from June through to September. The plant is native to Europe, North America, and the northern part of Asia. The essential oil is an olive-green to olive brown in color with a warm rich earthy odor and a distinct 'musk-like' character of great complexity Valerian essential oil is steam distilled from the plant’s rhizomes (roots). Valerian is well known for its qualities and its ability to relax the central nervous system and the smooth muscle groups. It has been used as a sleeping aid for hundreds of years especially when there is excitation or difficulty in falling to sleep due to nervousness. Over 120 chemical components are found in valerian and although a very complex herb, it has not been found to have any negative side effects with moderate use. Valerian does not impair driving ability and produces no morning hangover effect. It is a gentle relaxant and an effective sleep aid. Known compounds detected in valerian that may contribute to its method of action are:
- Alkaloids: actinidine, chatinine, shyanthine, valerianine, and valerine
- Isovaleramide may be created in the extraction process
- Gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA)
- Isovaleric acid
- Iridoids, including valepotriates: isovaltrate and valtrate. Sesquiterpenes (contained in the Volatile oil): valerenic acid, hydroxy-valerenic acid and acetoxy-valerenic acid
- Flavanones: hesperidin, 6-methylapigenin and linarin
Vetiver Essential Oil - Vetiveria zizanoides Vetiver is a tough, aromatic grass and the essential oil is extracted from the roots of a grass which belongs to the same botanical family as lemongrass, citronella and palmarosa. This plant has been appreciated for its properties since records began. It is extracted from the washed, chopped, dried and soaked roots and rootlets by steam distillation and yields about 0.5%. The aroma is very earthy. The main chemical components are benzoic acid, vetiverol, furfurol, a and b-vetivone, vetivene and vetivenyl vetivenate. It is considered a safe oil and is non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing. Originally native to India, vetiver is now cultivated for the extraction of essential oil in Angola, Argentina, Brazil, China, Haiti, Japan, Java and the island of Réunion. Vetiver has been used since time immemorial in Ayurvedic products where it was used for anxiety and stress. In India vetiver essential oil is known as the ‘Oil of Tranquillity’ due to its relaxing, calming properties on the mind, but it is also nurturing and revitalizing to the body. Restores balance to hormonal and emotional conditions, and regenerates both mind and body.
Sweet Basil Essential Oil - Ocimum basilicum Sweet basil is an aromatic herb with lush green leaves. The oil has a watery viscosity and is pale greenish-yellow in color. The aroma is clear, light and peppery and gives a sweet, green top note to blends. The essential oil comes from North Africa, Cypress, Seychelles and Europe. The flowers range from white to pink, depending on the species and attract swarms of bees in summer time. Basilicum comes from the Greek word 'Basilicos' meaning 'king' or 'royal'. The oil is extracted by steam distillation from the leaves and the flowering tops.Basil oil has various chemical compounds that include a-pinene, camphene, b-pinene, myrcene, limonene, cis-ocimene, camphor, linalool, methyl chavicol, y-terpineol, citronellol, geraniol, methyl cinnamate and eugenol. Basil oil is a good tonic. It is used to clear the mind and relieve intellectual fatigue, while giving clarity and mental strength.
Spanish Sage Essential Oil - Salvia lavandulaefolia Spanish sage is an aromatic evergreen herb. The oil has a sharp, herbal smell, and is watery in viscosity. This evergreen perennial herb can grow up to about 60cm (2 feet) high with a woody base, soft grey-green oval leaves and a mass of blue or violet flowers. The Romans believed it helped just about everything. The name is derived from the Latin word 'salvare' which means 'save' and during the Middle Ages it was a popular ingredient of many nerve tonics. Sage oil is extracted from the dried leaves by steam distillation. There also seems to be a more general destressing effect, so that the plant is suitable in helping reduce nervousness and excitability. The main chemical components of sage oil are a-pinene, camphene, b-pinene, myrcene, limonene, 1,8-cineole, a-thujone, b-thujone, camphor, linalool, bornyl acetate and borneol.
Valerian, vetiver, sweet basil, sage.
