We asked the Neem Team about their extensive range of natural flea and tick control and how they should be used.

The Neem Team like to think their SHIELD range is a comprehensive natural flea and tick control range and all of their Neem Shield products have been formulated to be used together and to reinforce each other. They are based on different forms and concentrations of neem and different repellent plants so that they can be used together without getting to excessive levels of any one ingredient.

The Neem Shield Shampoo and Neem Shield Spray (both for dogs) contain the same essential oils and are based on neem extract and lemongrass (and cider vinegar) as repellents, so they replenish each other.

The Neem Shield Herbs for dogs relies mostly on Neem, Brewers Yeast and Lemon Balm as repellents, although all ingredients reinforce the skin barrier.

The Neem Shield Spot On/Stroke On is based on Neem, Catnip and Eucalyptus as repellents and can be used alone in cats and sensitive dogs or layered with the spray.

The Neem Shield Flea Powder has powders, rather than essential oils, combined with kaolin powder to dry out pests while the neem and garlic with help from rosemary and lavender, repel any others.

The Neem Shield Dusting Powder, which is a simple kaolin/neem mix is for super-sensitive pets that don’t like any other smells or that have sore skin.

These can all be used together or interchangeably.

Equally the Neem Kit for Animals or simple neem sprays can be used on sensitive and young pets if owners are worried they may react to the other plant ingredients.

All of these would ideally be applied just before the pet is about to do something fun like go for a walk or go outside so that they don’t just immediately groom them off. If they do groom, the quantities applied are tiny, so they will not cause any issues.

The Shield House Spray doesn’t contain neem, but is  a silicone based spray a bit like Hedrin for headlice, to be used in the house on soft furnishings or around the edges of hardwood floors (beware....it can present a slip hazard on hard surfaces) to physically trap all flea life-stages if there is a flea infestation.

CSJ Billy No Mates could be used instead of the Neem Shield Herbs as could the Proflax Keep Off Me! Products. However The Neem Team haven't formulated these so this advice is based only on their experience and customers feedback.
