Bone broth is simply amazing for dogs, and cats - it is a nutrient-rich elixir that offers a plethora of benefits for your furry friend. Just as we incorporate superfoods and nutritious meals into our own diets, we can do the same for our dogs.

So what is Bone Broth?

While most people are familiar with the term “bone broth,” the actual recipe might still be a bit unfamiliar. It’s easy to mix up bone broth with soup, but they’re not quite the same thing. Just like the name suggests, making bone broth involves gently simmering animal bones – like chicken, cow, or lamb – in water for a good amount of time. This process draws out various minerals, collagen, gelatin, and other compounds from the bones and tissues, giving bone broth its amazing health-boosting properties.

A lot of these important vitamins aren’t actually found in regular pet food or home-cooked meals, which is why bone broth is a fantastic way to introduce these nutrients into your pet’s diet.

Keep in mind that what’s good for humans might not be safe for our furry friends. Traditional bone broth for humans usually has a lot of sodium, which can be risky for animals. That’s why it’s important to choose high-quality bone broth specifically made for pets from trusted UK brands like Boil & Broth.

So what are the benefits of bone broth for your pet?

Promotes Joint Health

As dogs age, joint issues can become a common concern. Bone broth is packed with essential nutrients such as glucosamine and chondroitin, which are vital for maintaining healthy joints. These compounds help reduce inflammation and promote cartilage and joint health. By incorporating bone broth into your dog's diet, you can potentially help them maintain their mobility and prevent age-related joint problems.

Supports Digestive Health

Bone broth is incredibly gentle on a dog's digestive system. It's easily digestible and can soothe an upset stomach. If your dog is experiencing diarrhoea or other digestive issues, bone broth can help provide much-needed relief. The gelatin in bone broth can also support the growth of beneficial gut bacteria, aiding overall digestive health.

Enhances Hydration

Many dogs don't drink enough water, which can lead to dehydration. Bone broth is not only a nutritious source of hydration, but its savoury flavour can entice dogs to drink more. Proper hydration is essential for various bodily functions, including circulation, digestion, and overall well-being.

Supports the Immune System

The vitamins and minerals in bone broth, including vitamin C, vitamin A, and zinc, can help boost your dog's immune system. A strong immune system is vital in preventing illnesses and infections. By regularly incorporating bone broth into your dog's diet, you can give their immune system the support it needs to stay healthy.

Aids in Recovery

Bone broth is not only a great addition to your dog's daily diet but also a fantastic recovery aid. If your dog has recently undergone surgery or is recovering from an illness, bone broth can provide the necessary nutrients to speed up the healing process. The amino acids in bone broth, such as glycine and arginine, can promote tissue repair and overall recovery.

Supports a Shiny Coat and Healthy Skin

Healthy skin and a shiny coat are signs of a thriving dog. The collagen in bone broth contributes to healthy skin and fur. It can reduce dryness, itching, and flakiness. Regular consumption of bone broth can leave your dog's skin soft and their coat lustrous.

Reduces Allergies and Food Sensitivities

Bone broth is an easily digestible, single-ingredient food, making it a fantastic option for dogs with allergies or food sensitivities. It's unlikely to trigger adverse reactions, making it a safe and nourishing choice for sensitive pups.

Encourages Picky Eaters

If you have a finicky eater on your hands, bone broth can work wonders. Its rich aroma and savoury taste can entice even the most stubborn dogs to eat their meals. You can use it as a topper or mix it with their regular food to make it more appealing.

Strengthens Teeth and Gums

Dental health is crucial for dogs, and bone broth can help in this regard. The act of chewing on bones and cartilage in the broth can strengthen your dog's teeth and gums. This natural dental care can reduce the risk of dental problems in the long run.

So in summary, Bone Broth is a nutritional powerhouse that offers a wide range of benefits for dogs of all ages. Whether you have a puppy, a senior dog, or a furry friend with specific health concerns, bone broth can be a valuable addition to their diet.

It's natural, nutrient-dense composition can promote joint health, digestive well-being, immune system strength, and more. By incorporating bone broth into your dog's diet, you can enhance their overall quality of life, keeping them happy, healthy, and thriving for years to come. How to use your Boil and Broth

The bone broth powder for dogs will arrive in a pouch with a scoop. Use the scoop to measure out the broth for each serving.

All you need to do is follow the instructions by adding the required amount of powder with the relevant of hot water (depending on the size of your dog), then stir well to remove any clumps. Below are some options on how to get the best out of your Boil & Broth Bone Broth:-

Rehydrate back to liquid broth: Measure the broth powder according to the feeding guidelines below. Add boiling hot water and stir well to prevent clumping. Let the broth cool before serving.

Rehydrate back to a collagen jelly: Add one scoop (5g) to a jug with 70ml of boiling hot water. Double the amount if you want to make up more. If you want more jelly, just use less water per scoop. Stir well and then put your liquid broth into your fridge. We recommend the back of the fridge because it’s cooler. Make sure your fridge is set to 3 degrees. Leave for 24 hours.

Rehydrate back to a liquid and freeze into moulds: Add two scoops to a jug with 100ml of boiling hot water. Stir well and then pour your broth into frozen moulds. Place in the freezer for 24 hours.

Sprinkle on a meal as a topper: Following the feeding guidelines, sprinkle the broth powder directly on to your dog’s meal.
