How to use Karnlea Beef Bone Broth
For everyday use and maintenance it is recommended :
Small – Medium Pets (25-50mls)
Medium – Large (Pets 50-75mls)
Giant Pets (75-100mls)
Can be used as an everyday supplement to feeding. Not to be used to replace complete meals
Whilst the above is a guide, should you have a sick / recovering pet larger amounts of broth can be used to encourage eating and hydration and to build up your pet. The product can be gently warmed to encourage feeding. Temperatures must be checked before use in this way to ensure that product is not too hot for your pet.
Larger amounts can also be used when used for sporting dogs for rehydration and nourishment, or for when extra hydration is needed.
Bone broth cannot easily be overdosed on, but like any food or supplement, sensible amounts should be fed per size of the pet.
Once the product is refrigerated or becomes cold, it will transform into a thick jelly. This is normal and what is desired from a quality bone broth.
Can be fed as a room temperature liquid, a jelly from the fridge, or frozen. If desired, the broth can be gently warmed to return it to a liquid state. Always check that heat is appropriate
Storage
This product is designed to be stored on the shelf or in the cupboard at ambient temperatures. Keep out of direct sunlight or excessive heat.
Once opened refrigerate for up to 5 days or freeze into portions in a silicone ice cube tray for up to 6 months.
What is Bone Broth: Bone broth is a traditional, nutrient rich broth, made from meat bones and sometimes vegetables and seasonings. Unlike soup stock, which is cooked over a couple of hours, bone broth is brought to a boil, then simmered over a long, slow cooking period of up to 48 hours. This ensures that every drop of goodness is leached out of the bones. In fact, they often have fallen apart at the end of the cooking process.
Why is it good for my dog?: We humans have been consuming bone broth for centuries as we know it’s goodness. It has the same benefits for our dogs. Because it’s gelatine, collagen and protein rich, it’s fantastic for the joints and bones. It’s also wonderful for the gut and digestion. Another great benefit is that it’s very beneficial to sick, recovering or elderly dogs to encourage them to eat and up their hydration.
How do I give it to my dog?: Our bone broth can be fed as a liquid, jelly or in a frozen state. It really depends what your dog prefers! It can be poured on top of food or mixed in, or even added to water to encourage fluid intake (make sure all water is consumed and change regularly if doing this as it still is a product that needs to be refrigerated and should be treated like other fresh foods). Of course you can also give it as a treat on it’s own if you prefer. If frozen or jellied, you can also gently heat to bring it back to a liquid consistency if this is more to your pet’s liking.
Why has it turned to Jelly and is so thick?: Once opened you will see that our bone broth is a slightly viscous liquid. At this point it must be stored in the fridge, and once this happens it will turn to a jelly. Don’t worry, this is exactly what you want from a quality bone broth, and it shows the high levels of collagen and gelatine in the product. Also, pet’s love it in this form. You can still easily mix it with food, or straight from the spoon for a tasty treat.
Can I freeze the Broth?: Yes! In fact we encourage you to do this. We recommend that the broth can be kept for up to 5 days in the fridge once opened, but often you will need longer to get through it. Freezing is a quick and convenient way to make it last longer and go further. You can then pop out a cube when needed and either feed frozen, or warm gently to revert back to a liquid.
Will this be good for my sick / recovering dog?
Yes it will. Not only is it nutrient and protein rich, it’s very tempting so it can be used to encourage your ill dog to start eating again, or added to some water to encourage hydration. Whilst the broth is not intended to replace a balanced diet, it will provide sustenance if your dog won’t eat for a few days.
Can I give bone broth to my puppy / kitten? Absolutely. This is a great supplement for all puppies and kittens. It’s a great addition to feeding, and promotes healthy bones and joints and also a healthy digestive system.
Is your bone broth human grade? In the UK, because of our strict regulations, all food for pets must state “ not for human consumption” on the packaging. This does not mean that the product is inferior, or hasn’t been made from human grade ingredients or to the highest human standards. Our broth is made in a production facility that is first and foremost for human consumption. It uses the same ingredients, and the same processes, including all testing, that the products labelled for people go through.
But I can make my own broth? Of course you can, and it’s a great thing to do. However in today’s world, where we’re all busy and sometimes it’s hard to fit these things in. Many of our customers will occasionally make their own broth, but use ours for convenience, or make sure to have it in the cupboard as a back up. They’re also assured when they use Karnlea bone broth that it’s got absolutely the highest levels of collagen, protein and amino acids. We encourage our customers to add bone broth to their pet’s diet every day for optimal health benefits. The fact that our broth is in convenient 500ml containers and is designed to be kept in a cupboard at ambient temperatures means that it isn’t taking up too much fridge or freezer space that comes with making a big batch at once.
Can I use Bone Broth against other supplements? Yes. Our bone broth works very well alongside other supplements that you might want to give your dog, such as Omega 3 oils.
Is your Bone Broth tested? Yes, each batch is carefully produced and then tested. We adhere to all rules and regulations necessary for the production of human bone broth, so you can rest assured that you’re using the highest quality when you purchase from us.
Is your packaging recyclable? : Yes it is. It’s also extremely environmentally responsible by way of it’s production, using renewable and sustainable sources for raw materials.
Every pet owner worries about what their dog eats, but ask them how much they drink and you often get a blank look.
In fact 2 out of 3 dogs don't drink the daily vet recommended 50ml/kg bodyweight – risking serious dehydration related illnesses and very expensive vet bills.
That's why Karnlea was developed - a super-tasty nutritious drink for dogs.
Dogs lap up Karnlea whilst leaving their water bowls untouched!
Karnlea isn’t just for thirsty dogs. It is also great for stimulating fussy eaters, dry diets and high activity dogs – or just as a low calorie refreshing treat!
